Thank you for your participation!

RELAY FOR LIFE
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Relay for Life! What a fantastic turn out. The event yeilded $207, 000, with Jerry's team contributing just over $2000. So thanks to each and every one of you for your support.

Here is a link to the information I have posted on the Jerrys Art Events site that includes photos too.

ART OF THE CAROLINAS 2008 PHOTOS
(FINALLY)
Speaking of photos, I finally posted some of the photos that I took last year at Art of the Carolinas 2008. Seems like I get so busy here at the store, I can't get to everything I want or need to do, so thank you for your patience.

I have been busy getting all the plans for Art of the Carolinas 2009 under way! If you are from out of town, you may want to make your reservation now, because once the brochure hits the streets, the hotel rooms go quickly. This is the link to the official site, so all the updates on vendors, workshops, instructors, everything, will be here. I should have all the workshops posted by mid July at the latest...wish me luck! It's quite the puzzle.

I'm going to use this spot to show you what I've been painting at home! Too much fun...
Here are a few images:

Lastly, I want to let you all know that my DVD is finally out! We shot it in January, so I have been anxiously awaiting this new adventure. Here is a link to the Web site where you can order on line now. They should be available in the Raleigh Store soon!

Oops, one more thing:
If you're looking for a new addiction, come on by the store this weekend and join in Dianne Rodwell's Encaustic Workshop.
Trust me, you will have way too much fun! This class is very informative, experimental and like I said, addicting. There are so many possiblities with encaustic paints. You will love this medium and be truly hooked!

See you soon,
Sharon

Times Flies When You're Having Fun!

Hello out there...
Geez, can you believe it's the end of April already?
Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but it sure seems that time passes so quickly these days!
We've been busy at Jerry's Artarama this month.
Construction is (almost!) done on the building/parking lot/shopping center. They just put the new parking space lines down today, so it will be a little easier parking for you. We are anxiously awaiting Trader Joe's to join us here in Holly Park Shopping Center too, so any updates we get, I'll be sure to pass them along.
We've had several Free Demos here for your pleasure and hope you've enjoyed them too. Please keep coming by! It's great to see you and also great to share our knowledge and love af art with each and every one of you!
If you haven't checked them out, please visit our Free Art Lessons on line. This is just another way we at Jerry's get to share our love of what we do with you, our valued customer. So, please enjoy our over 350 Free Art Lessons on our Web site.
We are just wrapping up another three day workshop with Suzanna Winton. She's awesome! If you've missed this workshop, check out Art of the Carolinas! We'll have Suzanna and several other instructors there teaching all kinds of workshops for you, so mark your calendars now and keep posted. I'll have the details up on the Web site by early July.
Enjoy this fabulous weekend!

Can you believe it's April already??

Hello there all you creative people!
We've been very busy as usual here at Jerry's Artarama.
Last weekend, Luana Luconi Winner offered a wonderful workshop here. I think the students really enjoyed the class. Luana definitely has tons of information to share and show, so thanks Luana! If you didn't get a chance to take this class, her next one is in June. Above is just some of the work completed by students in this two day workshop. Imagine what you can accomplish in her five day workshop...

Saturday, April 4th, Mike Rooney shared his talents in a free plein air painting demonstration for our customers! Thanks Mike! Your style is always refreshing! And for those of you that missed the demo, you can see Mike on line at our Free Art Lessons or you can sign up for one of his workshops we offer here at Jerry's.

Sunday, April 5th, Janie Johnson offered a free watercolor demonstration for a "standing room only" crowd and rasied $88 in a raffle for Relay for Life! Great job Janie! Thanks for helping us kick off our fundraising efforts for this cause that is near and dear to all of us! If you'd like to be a part of the Jerry's team or join in any of the activities and fundraising, please chick here.

Get Ready for SPRING!

Okay all of you artists out there! No more excuses. Spring will be here tomorrow. Enough of this hybernation stuff! Get out and enjoy the wonders of the season. Yes, it might still be a little chilly and probably a bit more rain is on the way, but have no fear.

If you're in the Raleigh area this weekend, please stop by the store. Patti Brady starts her three day workshop tomorrow, Friday, March 20th. (We still have space left, so sign up now!) And her book signing is scheduled here from 6-8pm also on Friday the 20th. Stop by and meet the artist/author of the new acrylic book, "Rethinking Acrylic" - radical solutions for exploiting the world's most versatile medium. You'll be so enlightened and armed with the correct knowledge, trust me!

We also have a book signing with Nick Meglin, author of "Drawing From Within" set up for Saturday, March 21st from 1pm-4pm. He is a wonderful artist and instructor. You'll understand what I mean once you speak with him! This book is a great tool for all artists that think they need to draw in a particular manner or like a particular artist. Free yourself and come on in for a little inspiration from Nick.

Loving this WEATHER!

What a fantastic weekend! Spring Fever is definitely in the air. Friday night, we enjoyed the First Friday Festivites. Starting out at Nicole's Studio to check out the "Up and Coming" show, we met up with some friends and headed over to Flander's Gallery. There we were totally impressed by Mia Yoon's colorful exhibit of painted papers. Next stop was Visual Art Exchange for the current "Pulp" show. This is quite an exciting show. Very innovative creations, all on paper. This is a "must see" for all. Next stop was Adam Cave Gallery where the talent of the evening was Will Goodyear's collection of mixed media paintings.
The art scene in this town just ceases to amaze me! It's really exciting to see the talent just keep on growing. I hope you're able to get out and about for at least some of these current shows.
Saturday, Joe and I took a drive to Southern Pines to visit Artist Alley. This quaint, artsy boutique is the home of Carolina Mixed Media Art Guild's current challenge, Mixed Media Madness Mission: Art Possible (M4 Challenge). Check out the review of this wonderful show at Triangle Art Review.
If you need a bit of art inspiration for your own work, visit our workshop schedule at Jerry's Artarama in Raleigh for March. We also have FREE DEMOS in the store for your free artistic spirit! Please join us!

Congratulations Tom!

Congratulations Tom Dowd for your endless efforts in raising money for the St. Baldrick's event for kids with cancer! I can't wait to hear the final tally and get a glimpse of you BALD one more time. WAY TO GO!

We had a crazy weekend here at the Raleigh retail store! Joe DiGiulio taught his two day "Exploring Mixed Media Abstractions". The students were doing alot of painting in the classroom and coming out with some great pieces! Oh so colorful!
Take a look...

I had a "Free Photo Transfer Demo" and had quite the turn out! Thank you to all who attended. I did find out that the Laser print worked out just great. Again, I think it has everything to do with the toner...Thanks PD for the image and suggestion!

And today, Wyn Easton is offering a FREE DEMO on oil painting with his favorite Lukas 1862 Oils. He'll be here until 4pm, so come on by before all the snow starts falling! You don't need milk and bread anyway! Stock up on your supplies so you can PAINT!

Thanks and see you next time.
